Use Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream before styling, on towel-dried hair, to prime, hold and condition. Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum is designed for use on dry, styled hair to define, hold and hydrate your look. Each product has a range of key ingredients that support additional benefits to the hair, including less frizz, a conditioned feel, natural movement, smoothness and shine.

Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream and Post-style serum are both engineered for all hair types, so both could be suited to you.

In fact, you can use both hair products together or separately, depending on your styling routine.

If you’re looking to make a choice between them, the Pre-style cream is a great foundation product to start with. You’ll need to choose one of four variants depending on your natural hair type and conditioning preference, but that one product can then be used before styling to prime, no matter what style you’re looking to achieve. For smoother hair with less frizz that feels conditioned.¹

If you’re looking for a product to apply after styling to add definition, the Post-style serum may be best suited for you. It’s great for reducing frizz for a smooth finish,¹ especially on straighter styles. Or use it on natural curls to add definition.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ range is compatible with all styling routines, no matter the tool you’re using. 

However, Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream and Post-style serum are the only styling products specifically designed and tested to work with Dyson hair care devices, following the same engineering mindset. Less is more with our Dyson Chitosan™ range. We recommend starting with one or two pumps, building more as needed for your hair. Our Dyson-engineered applicator is rigorously tested to deliver 0.23ml every time, pump after pump, so once you’ve established the right amount for your hair, you can count on your dosage, every time. 

Identifying your natural hair type will be thinking about what shape it dries naturally. There are 4 main hair types,  

Type 1: Straight to wavy hair. This hair type can require washing more regularly than other types to avoid a build up of oils. 

Type 2: Wavy to curly hair, often described as a wavy ‘S’ shape. This hair type also requires regular washing as oils can progress down the hair strand more easily. 

Type 3: Curly hair with tighter ringlets. Curly hair can often suffer from dryness due to lack of sebum across the hair strands.

This complex macromolecule helps create flexible bonds that support hair strand by strand, for flexible all-day hold.¹ It’s the foundation of our Dyson Triodetic™ technology. Our key ingredient is also supported by oils, to help condition the hair surface, reducing frizz and giving a soft, shiny finish.

Yes, we have two variants specifically blended for naturally curly to coily hair. Our Dyson Chitosan™ range has two variants designed for curly to coily hair, one light conditioning and one rich conditionign. 

Our light conditioning formula contains grapeseed oil to condition and enhance softness without adding excess weight to the hair.

Our rich conditioning formula contain more intensely nourishing ingredients like castor seed oil to condition for soft and shiny styles.

Our Post-style serum is designed for use after styling and can be used across different styles. How you apply the Post-style serum may vary slightly based on the styles you’re looking to achieve.

Our Pre-style cream has been engineered to prime your hair from wet for touchable, two-times longer hold,¹ with a lightweight natural feel. We have formulated four variants for different hair types and conditioning preferences. 

Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream should be applied to damp, towel-dried hair, before drying and styling.

Each formula contains the same level of our hero ingredient, chitosan, to create flexible hold in your hair. However, each variant has also been carefully engineered with varying levels of other key ingredients – including emollients, conditioners, and emulsifiers – to suit different hair shapes and conditioning preferences.

Our light conditioning formulas use grapeseed oil to nourish and enhance softness and hold, without adding excess weight to the hair.

Our rich conditioning formulas use more intensely nourishing ingredients, such as castor seed oil, to condition for soft, long-lasting styles on hair that needs more intense hair nourishment.

Choosing the right Pre-style cream variant for your hair comes down to two key factors and is based on your natural hair type, regardless of the style(s) you’re looking to achieve.

First, determine your hair shape. Our Pre-style cream is tailored to two groups of hair shapes: straight to wavy, and curly to coily. To find which applies to you, imagine your hair has been washed and left to air-dry. What shape do the majority of the strands take?

Second, decide your conditioning preference. If your hair strands are finer, or your overall hair density thinner, choose a light conditioning formula. If your hair is thicker, in strand diameter and/or density, or is more dry or damaged, you may prefer a rich conditioning formula.

The amount of Pre-style cream that’s right for you will vary depending on factors such as your hair length, density, thickness and condition.

Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream should be used before styling. You should use it on damp, towel-dried hair after it’s been washed.

Apply the Pre-style cream from your mid-lengths to ends, before styling with your favourite hot air styling tool to dry and style.

You can use the Pre-style cream as often as you like in line with your washing and styling routine. Remember, it’s best to start with freshly washed hair, and our Pre-style cream should be applied to damp, towel-dried hair before drying and styling.

All our full-size formulation packaging is refillable, including all of our Pre-style cream variants. When you’re approaching the end of your original product, simply order a refill and follow the instructions on the cartridge to replace. Your used cartridge can be recycled at home (check local guidance).

No, the Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream contains beeswax to help aid flexible retention.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream contains small quantities of silicones. It is a common misconception that all silicones are bad for the hair and lead to build-up. The silicones we use in our Pre-style cream are designed to help control frizz, while maintaining shiny hair.

Our silicones are water-soluble so they can be easily washed out. We’ve rigorously tested on hundreds of hair tresses and hundreds of different people to ensure they wash out easily. 

No, our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream is paraben free.

No, our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream is sulphate free. 

To achieve the best results when using your Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream, we recommend using on hair that is at least 50% towel-dried and distributing evenly through the lengths of your hair. If you are not achieving your desired results, try adding a bit more product to your hair.

Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum should be applied on dry, styled hair. Work through your hair with your fingers to smooth, define and enhance your style.

Position the pump mid-palm and push down to dispense one pump of product. Start with 1–2 pumps and sheer through your hands, for straight sleek looks, smooth through the lengths of the hair. When creating curled styles, use your fingers to rake through and dress out the curls. Stylist tip: to enhance natural curls, use your fingertips to define the shape of your hair. 

Apply more as needed.

Less is more with our Post-style serum. We recommend starting with one or two pumps, building as needed for your hair.

Our Dyson-engineered applicator is rigorously tested to deliver the same amount pump after pump, so once you’ve established the right amount for your hair, you can count on your dosage, every time.

Humidity can have an impact on styles by distrupting the hydrogen bonds in your hair strands, causing common hair problems such as frizz, or for your styles to drop as they return to their natural shape. We test all of our formulations to relative 80% humidity in our labs to give you confidence that your styles can last, even in high humidity.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ range has a fresh, delicate fragrance featuring citrus notes of sparkling bergamot and mandarin. It’s tempered by green tea and floral notes, with hints of musk and cedarwood.

Dyson Chitosan™ range is primarily a consumer product but professional stylists can use it too. There is no pro-specific variant of Dyson Chitosan™ hair styling products. 

Dyson Chitosan™ refill cartridges are recyclable. 

The outer sleeve, pump and magnetic cap have been designed for reuse and are not recyclable. 

As with all our machines, we’ve put our hair styling products through a series of robust tests, covering both our formulations and the packaging.

We have tested our products in a number of different laboratory tests as well as with real people to test real-world scenarios.

Yes, our Dyson Chitosan™ range of hair styling products is safe to use on bleached, coloured and chemically treated hair.

Our formulations have been tested rigorously on adults and proven to be safe. We do not test on children or babies and therefore do not recommend for usage on them. Instead, we highly recommend using hair products that have been tested and have been proven to be safe for children and babies. 

Yes, there are no safety concerns for pregnant users.

We do not recommend using our hair products on pets. Our Dyson Chitosan™ range has only been used and tested on humans.

The shelf life of your full-size Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream and Post-style serum is three years. However, once the lid has been opened, the styling product should be used within 12 months.
