Convenience without compromise
Machine highlights
-
Intuitive airflow
Your machine senses when hair is between the arms and automatically drops to low airflow when it's not – for quieter, more efficient styling.
-
LCD screen
High-definition colour display shows airflow and temperature settings, for easy reference when styling.
-
Lock feature
Slide the button to lock and unlock the arms of your machine. Use with the arms locked to gently pre-dry hair and create volume from the roots.
-
Auto pause
After three seconds of inactivity your machine will automatically pause. Simply move the machine to restart airflow.
Pioneering Dyson technology
-
Style reset
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to ‘reset’. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – without extreme heat.¹
-
The science of shine
Using lower temperature and resetting the hair’s bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, so it can reflect more light, for a shiny finish.
More than a plug
The PRCD plug (Portable Residual Current Device) is engineered for your safety when using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronic elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself.
-
Why this appliance needs a PRCD
The straightener’s powerful air drying technology for wet to dry use requires a PRCD plug to test the electrical current for safety. Such plugs are used for a variety of electrical appliances, particularly in proximity to water or water vapour.

What this means for your styling routine
For your safety, press TEST and RESET every time before you use your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. See the step-by-step instructions in our user guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my Dyson Airstrait™ straightener on dry hair?
Yes, you can use the Dyson Airstrait™ to touch-up and refresh your style from dry. To use on dry hair, select Dry mode and choose between the pre-set temperatures, depending on your hair type and intended style.
Will my straightener turn off if I accidentally leave it on?
Your Dyson Airstrait™ will enter auto-standby after five minutes of inactivity when the arms are left open, or three minutes if the arms are locked. The LCD screen will turn off and you'll need to press the power button to turn the machine back on.
Can I use my Dyson Airstrait™ straightener when travelling to countries with different electrical voltage?
Your straightener has been precisely engineered for styling at the voltage of the country in which it was purchased. This allows it to run at optimum performance. As voltage varies from country to country, please follow the guidance on usage in the guarantee section of your user manual.
How often do I need to clean the filter?
To maintain optimum performance, your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener needs regular care and maintenance. We recommend cleaning the filter once a month. Debris should be wiped from the outer filter cage and from the inner filter mesh using a soft, dry cloth.
Do I need to clean my machine?
Yes, we recommend regular cleaning of your machine for optimum performance. You can find detailed instructions on how to clean and deep-clean your filter, tension bars and diffusers in your online user guide, on our Support pages or on your MyDyson™ app.
Why don’t other Dyson appliances have a PRCD plug?
This is an additional safety element, designed especially for the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener given its powerful and direct wet-to-dry function.
How big is the PRCD plug? Can I carry it in hand luggage?
Yes, the PRCD plug can be carried in hand luggage. The plug is H71mm x L150mm x W41mm in size. It's an additional safety element, engineered with key electronics, to help reduce the size and weight of the straightener itself. If you intend to travel with your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener please check the voltage of your destination country matches your straightener. You can find the voltage in your user guide.
Why is the PRCD plug bigger than a traditional plug?
Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronics elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself. The plug is currently Dyson's best solution to enable a lightweight and compact product that enables wet-to-dry straightening.
Does the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener operate at high altitudes?
High altitudes and low ambient atmospheric pressure can affect how hair styling tools perform. Low air pressure reduces the rate of airflow entering and exiting the machine, which can affect performance. If you experience any issues using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener above 2,000m in altitude, talk to a Dyson Expert.
