Dyson Farming strawberries
Rick begins the tour in Dyson Farming’s glasshouse in Carrington. Spanning 26 acres, the glasshouse is home to 1.25m strawberry plants, which produce 1,250 tonnes of delicious strawberries each year for British consumers.
The glasshouse is lengthening the British strawberry season by growing quality strawberries during the autumn, winter and spring, when British strawberries are traditionally unavailable. This contributes to the UK becoming more self-sufficient in food reducing the air miles associated with imported fruit.

Circular farming
Outside the glasshouse, James takes Rick to the top of one of Dyson Farming’s anaerobic digesters - part of its highly efficient circular farm system. The digesters are fed with energy crops which break down and create gas, powering engines which generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 10,000 homes.
The digesters also power the glasshouse with renewable electricity, heat and CO2 for the strawberries to grow sustainably and at scale.
Following his visit, Rick whipped up a strawberry sorbet recipe using Dyson Farming’s delicious berries.
